Horticulture lighting

Horticulture lighting

Horticulture lighting is used to provide supplemental or primary light for crops grown in controlled environments, including commercial greenhouses, vertical farms, indoor plant factories, and multi-layer growing racks. For these systems, light output alone is not enough. The lighting fixture must distribute photons evenly across the plant canopy, reduce wasted light outside the growing area, and fit the physical limits of the cultivation environment.

A horticulture luminaire combines LED sources, thermal management, driver control, PCB layout, housing, and secondary optics. The optical lens helps transform raw LED output into a controlled distribution that matches the crop bed, grow rack, or plant row. Properly selected LED lenses help horticulture fixture manufacturers improve canopy coverage while maintaining a practical fixture size and installation layout.

TV Backlight

A TV backlight lens is an internal optical component used in direct-lit LCD display modules. Positioned over each LED, it spreads and redirects the light inside the backlight cavity so that the display panel receives a more uniform illumination field. The objective is not simply to increase brightness. The optical system must reduce visible LED hotspots, support consistent panel luminance, and work within the limited space available behind the LCD panel.

For TV and commercial-display manufacturers, the final backlight result depends on the complete optical stack: LED type, LED pitch, lens geometry, reflective backplate, diffuser plate, optical films, panel size, and backlight-cavity depth. A properly matched LED backlight lens helps turn discrete LED point sources into a smooth and usable illumination surface.

Wall Wash Lighting

Wall Wash Lighting

Wall wash lighting is used to create a smooth, continuous layer of light across a vertical surface. It can make an architectural facade appear brighter after dark, improve the visual depth of an interior wall, support gallery displays, or create a more welcoming atmosphere in hotels, retail spaces, entrances, and public areas.

A successful wall wash effect is not achieved by brightness alone. The light must reach the wall at the correct angle, overlap evenly with neighboring fixtures, avoid excessive brightness near the luminaire, and limit unwanted light outside the target surface. This is where wall wash lighting optics become important.
